Updating Our Sustainability Strategic Plan: Guiding Principle Task Force Operations

In January, the Office of Sustainability kicked off efforts to update the University’s Sustainability Strategic Plan (SSP), documented here in the first installment of SSP updates. Since then, we have conducted focus groups with student leaders, faculty, and staff to understand their opinions on what a shared vision of sustainability should look like at UK, the most important sustainability issues we will face, and potential goals we can set to address these issues. Based on focus groups and campus feedback, we developed the first draft of the vision statement and guiding principles for the SSP. You can read about the development process here in the second installment of SSP updates.

As the Sustainability Strategic Plan began to evolve and take shape, task forces were assembled and assigned to support each of the five guiding principles. Continue reading to learn more about each of the five guiding principle task force operations in this third installment of Sustainability Strategic Plan progress updates.

Get Involved: Provide Feedback!

After these task forces draft a set of goals that align with all five guiding principles, another round of community feedback will take place in early fall. Providing feedback on the draft plan is the perfect opportunity to get involved in sustainability on campus!
