The University of Kentucky has over 12,000 trees on campus. With a tree canopy that large, UK requires an in-house arborist team who works around the clock making sure our trees are safe and well maintained. They plant trees, prune young trees for good branch structure, prune for needed clearance, remove trees, grind stumps, complete tree assessments, carry out plant health care applications, remediate soil with compressed air tools, transplant trees, train fellow employees, and work with students as part of classes as well as student volunteer events.
Watch this video to see what tools they use and what standards they have in place to keep our tree canopy healthy and beautiful.
