Bluegrass Greensource to host third annual Sustainability Summit at the University of Kentucky

Join Bluegrass Greensource March 7-8th for their third annual Sustainability Summit, held at the Gatton Student Center. This 2-day event will feature a variety of speakers, focusing on the topic of Climate Resiliency and Environmental Justice throughout Central Kentucky.

The full-day conference (March 8th, 8am-5pm) will focus on how climate change is affecting Kentucky. It will answer questions such as “Who is most affected by climate change in Kentucky” and “What needs should we consider when forming a sustainable, equitable, healthy Bluegrass?” The Summit will be providing attendees with numerous networking opportunities, as well as refreshments, and lunch.

During the Summit, Bluegrass Greensource will also host discussions about actionable steps and potential solutions to create effective change for the environment and our communities. Some of the topics and questions up for discussion are:

  • Flooding and resiliency in Eastern KY
  • How is Kentucky affected by climate change?
  • How are communities adapting to the effects of climate change?
  • How are they taking steps to mitigate the effects from climate change?
  • Who is most affected by climate change (geographically/demographically)?
  • How are these effects felt?
  • How can we collaborate to create solutions to climate inequities?

Before the Summit, Civity will be hosting a pre-conference workshop (March 7th, 1-4pm). This workshop will focus on building skills to communicate with friends, neighbors, and colleagues that think differently from you or have different backgrounds. Participants will take away actionable strategies that are grounded in cross-cutting social science research and can easily be incorporated into existing gatherings. The workshop will cover topics such as how to deepen conversations, how to establish authenticity through storytelling and active listening, and how to “put difference on the table.”

Registration is open NOW and the registration fee includes admission to both the Civity pre-conference and the full conference day. Click HERE for more information about ticket pricing and registration.
