Regardless of what food is going to be on your table this year, the fact remains that <strong>there are plenty of people in our communities who suffer from food insecurity<\/strong>. That\u2019s why after weeks of collaboration between the offices of Sustainability, Recycling, and Athletics, UK will be hosting its first-ever football food drive!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sack Hunger \u2013 The BBN Football Food Drive<\/strong> will take place at gates 2 and 9 of Kroger Field during the November 6<sup>th<\/sup> game against Tennessee. Donations will benefit UK\u2019s hunger relief programs as well as God\u2019s Pantry Food Bank. Here are some non-perishable items you can bring to help:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Dry Pasta<\/li><li>Pasta Sauce<\/li><li>Peanut Butter<\/li><li>Jelly<\/li><li>Mac n&#8217; Cheese<\/li><li>Rice<\/li><li>Canned Fruit<\/li><li>Seasonings<\/li><li>Crackers<\/li><li>Condiments<\/li><li>Granola Bars<\/li><li>Cereal<\/li><li>Canned Chicken \/ Tuna<\/li><li>Fruit Snacks<\/li><li>Flour<\/li><li>Beans and Lentils<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will be accepting non-perishables between 5:30pm and 7:00pm, ending at kickoff. Look for tents labeled \u201cUK Sustainability,\u201d and one of our awesome interns will be there to receive your donations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We could not have created this opportunity without contributions from UK\u2019s corporate partners. Thanks to JMI Sports and Kroger, you can find our Sack Hunger shopping list this week at local Kroger stores. We would also like to give a shoutout to Rubicon, the official sustainability partner of UK Athletics, for helping us spread the word about our event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eliminating food insecurity is critical as we strive to expand UK\u2019s sustainability<\/strong> <strong>efforts<\/strong>. If we want to stand on a foundation of justice and equity as we address sustainability issues, ensuring nobody goes hungry in our community is a great start. With the help of UK Campus Kitchens, Big Blue Pantry, and God\u2019s Pantry Food bank, we can help reduce hunger not only in Lexington, but in all of Kentucky!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So if you\u2019re a football fan, please collaborate with us to sack hunger in the BBN!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UK will also be participating in the nationwide Gameday Recycling Challenge at the Tennessee game, so make sure to pick up a tailgate recycling kit!
